At the heart of our church is a vibrant community committed to praising God, nurturing faith, and spreading the Good News through worship, education, outreach, and fellowship. We are dedicated to living out our call to faithfulness, inviting all to experience the love and grace of God with us.
Since our foundation on May 29, 1858, as the Kensington Methodist Episcopal Church, we have been a steadfast beacon in our community. Initially meeting in the town hall, we laid the cornerstone of our first church building in 1865, with our current sanctuary rising in 1893, thanks to the generous land donation from Edward Alling. The addition of our education wing in 1961 has furthered our mission of learning and fellowship.
Every Sunday at 9:00 am, we gather to celebrate our faith through a rich tapestry of worship styles. From the reverent echoes of traditional hymns to the vibrant energy of modern songs, our services are designed to uplift and inspire. We encourage you to come as you are, embracing our inclusive atmosphere where everyone is welcome, free from judgment.

Outreach

Children's Worship at KUMC
At Kensington United Methodist Church, our Children's Ministry is a vibrant and nurturing environment where young worshippers can grow in faith, participate in meaningful worship experiences, and engage in service to others. Through engaging lessons, special performances, and a commitment to safety, we strive to provide children with opportunities to learn, serve, and experience the love of God in tangible ways.
Sunday Gatherings
Every Sunday, our young worshippers begin the service with the congregation. Before proceeding to their Sunday School, they unite with everyone in reciting the Lord’s Prayer.
